Healing with Saniderm?

-24 hours after the first piece has been applied, it must be removed. It’s easiest to have the piece removed by a friend under running warm water.

-Once the first piece of Saniderm is removed, wash thoroughly with lukewarm water and non-scented antibacterial soap (my favorite is liquid Dial gold DO NOT USE BAR SOAP).

-Make sure to completely dry the tattoo and area around the tattoo completely with a paper towel(bone dry is usually how I like to describe it). Remove the paper portion of the Saniderm first, making sure that the bandage is still attached to the plastic. Apply the Saniderm from the center of the tattoo and push out on the sides to not let any bubbles form under the saniderm. If you do, but sure to gently push them out. Remove the plastic once you have it mostly applied then smooth the bandage down onto the skin. Make sure to have at least a half inch of bandage outside of the tattoo to ensure complete coverage!

-Leave the bandage on your tattoo for the remaining six days until it’s been a full week since you’ve gotten your tattoo. DO NOT LEAVE IT ON ANY LONGER THAN THAT.

-You can shower with the bandage no problem at all!

-If you experience any bumps or irritation of any sort, REMOVE THE SANIDERM IMMEDIATELY and start the dry healing process explained below:

Healing with “dry healing?”

-You can leave the steak/meat packaging bandage 2-12 hours after application.

-Once you remove the bandage, wash with lukewarm water and a non-scented antibacterial soap (my favorite is liquid Dial Gold DO NOT USE BAR SOAP).

-Pat dry with a PAPER TOWEL. And apply an ointment (my favorite is Aquaphor) with CLEAN HANDS.
-MAKE SURE TO APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT. JUST ENOUGH TO HAVE A SMALL FILM OF OINTMENT OVER YOUR TATTOO.

-Use your choice of ointment for a minimum of 2 days, maximum 4. The first two days of your tattoo is called the “weeping” stage and lots of plasma will accumulate. Make sure to wash this off frequently with soap and water (NOT BAR SOAP).

-After 2-4 days of ointment switch to a non-scented lotion (Lubriderm is my brand of choice), and apply generously throughout the day to keep the tattoo from drying out.

-The tattoo will itch and peel like a sunburn. DO NOT PICK. LET IT PEEL AND DO ITS THING ON ITS OWN.

-After 3 weeks your tattoo will be completely healed! Avoid direct sunlight, taking baths, and swimming during the healing process.
